Taveuni Diving Operations

As a result of the excellent diving in the reefs near to Taveuni, the island has an established number of professionally run dive operations. These are not only found in the tourism centre of Matei, but along the north-western coast.

Independent dive operations are as follows:

• Jewel Bubble Divers (Matei) - Locally owned and operated by Qiolele Morisio, just down the beach from Swiss Fiji Divers. Qio (pronounced Ngio) opened the doors in 2005, but brings many years of experience of diving in Fiji. As a diver at the famed Wakaya Club, he helped many celebrities with their diving, including Nicole Kidman and Demi Moore. Trips are via a 9m (28ft) custom-built fiberglass dive boat, with Yamaha 115HP Zoom Engine, travelling at 20 knots when fully loaded.
• Vunibokoi Divers (Matei at Tovutovu Resort) - Locally owned and operated by well-known Fijian divers Tyrone Valentine & Samu Matana, each having more than 20 years of experience of local reefs. They operate a 8.7m (27 ft) fiberglass boat named 'Lakomai', which is powered by 2 Yamaha 60 Horsepower outboard engines. Full canopy and dive ladder.
• Swiss Fiji Divers (Matei) - Owned by a Swiss-German couple for many years, and recently sold to new owners in August/September 2007.
• Taveuni Dive (at Taveuni Estates, Soqulu) is a PADI Gold Resort 5 star facility with 3 boats. A bit closer to the Rainbow Reef than the Matei dive shops but not as many choices of places to stay here, either at a house rental on the estate or drive from the other Taveuni resorts such as Garden Island Resort, Nakia Resort, or the Matei resorts and lodgings.

• Dolphin Bay Divers Retreat (Buca Bay, Vanua Levu, but accessed from Taveuni). Operate a 20ft aluminum dive boat, equipped with 275 horsepower Yamaha outboard engine, which can hold 6 divers plus crew.
• Garden Island Resort (Waiyevo)& Aqua-Trek Taveuni Diving. PADI 5 Star Gold Palm Resort, with two sturdy aluminium boats catering for 30+ divers total.
• Paradise Taveuni (near Vuna) & Prodive Taveuni.
